When do you add another dog to your house? how do you know you are ready? (i know this isn't a child but there is expense, time, love, bills, everything). we currently have an english bulldog (who is my world, sad i know but I've come to find I'm not the only one!) we have the opportunity to add another english bulldog from the same breeder to our house due to some bad personal things that have happened to her. all of her dogs are very well taken care of and loved. we have had no issues, health or otherwise, with our dog she is very happy, healthy, and full of life. all of her female breeders are available and also the male (stud) who is my dogs dad (is that weird to anyone else?) She is giving these dogs away, GIVING!, her babies that she loved since the day the they were born she is giving away, i don't know all the details of it but i think it has to do with divorce (vote 1 for never getting married!). i just CANNOT turn away another bulldog, its what I've been wanting, but am i ready for another dog? I've had mine almost 3 years, she has separation anxiety and i think she needs a playmate, is this how i would decide to have another child? LOL
we are going Wednesday to check them out and take her to see how she does with them because it really all depends on her. when we take her to the dog park she doesn't pay any attention to the other dogs. she just plays with us and herself and then is ready to go when we are. i know it will be different when they are in her house, her space, with her things, and her people. Wish us luck because the male is HUUUUUUUUUUGE and could eat me out of house and home which i really pray doesn't happen! females get too jealous of each other (imagine that? even in the dog world).

When we decided to bring a new dog into the family it took a lot of thought--however, looking at my two pups together, it is the best decision I've ever made. My girl (whom I have had for 7 years) is energetic and a lot more social than she was prior to bringing my boxer boy to the family. I think multiple dogs is great not only for the people but for the pups. It gets lonely when mom and dad are out working--having multiple pups makes the lonliness easier to endure. Remember...doggies are pack animals!! Just make sure (as I'm sure bulldogs are the same with boxers) that if you bring in the same sex, the new pup is younger--especially with girls!!
Come link up to the inaugural edition of What's On the Menu Wednesday. Mister Linky is up and waiting. Thanks.
